David vs. David

I vowed this year not to watch American Idol because I got hooked for the first time last season and then just annoyed toward the end. Well as I posted before, with no new TV to watch thanks to the writers' strike, I helplessly got sucked in this year. I am happy to report that even though I found some parts of it unbearably annoying and hokey my favorite, David Cook, ended up winning! He didn't really stand out until he sang Lionel Richie's "Hello" and then I fell in love.

After that he was just consistently good and unique. My 2nd favorite of his was Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean."

The funniest part is that the Hub's work had an American Idol Draft of sorts after it went down to 24 contestants and he ended up with the last pick in a snake draft (for those of you non fantasy draft dorks he had picks 12 and 13), so with all the good ones taken he chose (hee hee) Danny Noreiga as his first pick and then happened to pick no name David Cook as his second. Even after the first week or two I'd be like what is the name of your other guy? So luck prevailed and he picked the hidden gem of the season and won it all. For the first time we actually voted the last 2 weeks of the competition. Even though he won by a landslide 12 million votes, I am convinced the 6 times we actually made it through (those pesky lines are always busy) really made the difference. I liked the other David alright but was annoyed that he forgot the lyrics to one of his songs for the 2nd time and none of the judges commented on that after the Chris Brown song, which he sounded as funny and ingenuine singing "I need you boo" as my husband would. And he recycled John Lennon's "Imagine" which I thought was cheap.
Anyway, yay David Cook!

So What Do You Think?

Who should be voted out tonight?

I think Kristy Lee Cook because of the following reasons:

1) She's not that good
2) She sold her best horse (see earlier AI post). That's crap.
3) She had a cute shirt, but horrible hole infested pants--yes, image matters in this contest.
4) She didn't choose a good song--wait, every Beatles song is good. Oh, that's right she sang it in a horrible country white trash twang that seemed ingenuine.

I thought about 5 or 6 of the 12 were actually good.

If Kristy doesn't get the boot, it will probably be David (stripper at a gay establishment) Hernandez.

Chikezie was my ABSOLUTE favorite last night. Followed by David Cook and Brooke White. I like Jason dredlocks too.
Two of my usual favorites David A. and Ramiel were not up to par, which was too bad since I really like them.

What's your opinion? (and I know my problem is I post right before for the show! So maybe next week I'll be better and post Tuesday night).

I Caved!

I swore I would not get hooked on American Idol this year...but then I thought it ok to watch the beginning stuff (not religiously, just here and there)...then with no new TV thanks to the long writers' strike I needed something...then some of the stories drew me in a little...and somewhere between there and here I did it--I am unfortunately hooked!

The girls sang last night and here's my for and against picks:
For: Ramiele something er other.
Reason: She's very good, and seems sweet. Plus you don't see many Filipinos in the music industry in the US.
Against (though I very much doubt she'll be kicked out tonight): Kristy Lee Cook
Reason: At first I thought I would like her cause she had a horse, then found out how she sold said horse so she could have money to goto Philly even though he was the best horse ever. Now I'm totally against her, and hope she gets kicked out soon. Plus too many blondes and she recycled "Amazing Grace" and used it twice, which I thought was lame.
A Recap of the Girls Hollywood Week:

Boys:
For: David Archuleta
Reason: He'll probably win the whole thing, plus loved his rendition of "Imagine."

Against: Hmmmm, I thought they all weren't that great except for David...so I guess noone in particular.
